Proteomics and Microarray Laboratory
Short description:
The lab provides conditions for advanced research for gene identification, protein validation, detection of specific markers for various cell types, and detection of oncogenes. This lab is equipped with specific devices capable of performing the entire spectrum of proteomic and microarray analyzes, from automatic nucleic acid extraction to reading low or medium density microarray blades, both commercial and customized: oligo- arrays, BAC-arrays, protein-arrays, special blades. Thus, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), mutations can be identified, tumors can be classified, target genes or tumor suppressor, biomarkers and chemoreceptor-associated genes can be identified, possibly resulting in the discovery of new drugs.
Main activities / techniques:
- isolation of genetic material from different types of cell cultures and from fresh human and animal biological samples
- determining the protein expression profile
- determining the methylation status of DNA; SNP detection
- comparative genomic hybridization
- highlighting fusion genes
