Chemistry Department

Short description:

Environmental, biological and toxicological analyzes can be carried out within the Chemistry Department. Inorganic compounds from environmental and biological samples, volatile organic compounds from plants and non-volatile from environmental or biological samples can be determined using the equipment available in the department.

Main activities / techniques:

  • sample collection: environmental samples – soil, water, coal, plants; biological samples: blood, serum, urine, tissues, cells
  • sample processing: liquid-liquid extraction; extraction in solid phase on columns; derivation; agitation; centrifugation; evaporation using rotary evaporator at temperature or with inert gas, such as nitrogen; dilution
  • sample analysis: qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples by analytical methods, such as thin layer chromatography (TLC), liquids chromatography (HPLC), Gas (GC), Atomic Absorption (AAS)
