HLA Laboratory

Short presentation:
HLA Laboratory is projected as molecular biology laboratory in immunology of transplantation, which provides histocompatibility testing (HLA) for patients on the waiting list for an organ transplant, for patients requiring bone marrow transplantation and their potential donors within the family, and for stem cell donors from National Registry of Voluntary Donors of Peripheral and Central Hematopoietic Stem Cells. HLA genotyping could be used also in other diseases (e.g.: HLA-B27-spondylitis ankylopoetica, HLA-DQ2/DQ8, HLA DR4 in celiac disease).

Main activities/techniques:

  • DNA extraction;
  • HLA typing low resolution SSO and SSP;
  • HLA typing high resolution SSP and SBT;
  • interpretation and issuing results;
