Short presentation:
In Chemistry Department can be analyzed environmental samples, biological and also toxicological samples. Various compounds can be determined, inorganic compounds from environmental and biological samples, volatile and non-volatile organic compounds from environmental and biological samples.

Main activities/techniques:

  • samples collection: environmental samples – soil, water, coal, plants; biological samples – blood, serum, urine, tissue, cells
  • samples processing: liquid-liquid extraction; solid phase extraction; derivatization; mixing; centrifugation; evaporation with rotary evaporator, at temperature or under at inert gas, such as nitrogen; dilution
  • samples analysis: qualitative and quantitative analysis by analytical methods, such as thin layer chromatography (TLC), liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas-chromatography (GC), atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS)
